Our Mission Statement
Bunclody Day Care Services Limited work towards providing a caring, social and recreational service for older people in the Bunclody area and it’s environs.

What the Day Care Provides
The Day Care provides up to 50 people every Tuesday and Thursday with a setting where they can enjoy good conversation and companionship. They have morning tea/coffee, Dinner (hot meal each day at a fee) and desert, afternoon tea/coffee. They also take part in activities which include Bingo, Card Playing and are entertained by visiting musical performers and story telling from time to time. Dancing and a sing- a -long can also occur with great participation from the members. They also benefit from chiropody treatments throughout the year. Information talks are also organised with some suggested topics including: Care – Health Nurse, Security for the elderly, Gardai – crime prevention, Gardening, Legal issues etc.

New Building Project Update
The major reconstruction project is almost complete. Thanks to the excellent craftsmanship of builder Sean O’Brien and his team the new extension is fitting in comfortably with the old St. Mary’s School. Seamus Moran has provided a plan for the proposed garden. The excitement is building as the completion date approaches.

Fundraising
Since our first newsletter in the Spring the Day Care has had many fundraising events. With the cost of the new building project it was necessary to make a big effort throughout the summer and beyond to get as much financial support as possible. Times are difficult but the generosity and support of the entire community and local areas was outstanding. It was evident from the attendances at every fundraising event that the Day Care is thought of as a valued and much needed local community service. And now with our new building it will provide even more services such as a medical room, shower room, hairdressing, chiropody on site and wheelchair assessable toilets. It was also encouraging to see so many young people attend and take part in fundraising events like ‘Celebrity Gigs & Reels’, Rubberman, GAA/DayCare Barbaque, Open garden Day at Kellys Tombrick and Stars in Your Eyes.

Bunclody Day Care Services Ltd. is a voluntary organisation and as you can imagine a huge amount of work is involved in running any event. The Day Care would like this opportunity to thank most sincerely all who helped them out in any way, financially, by organising, attending, supporting, helping at any of our fundraising endeavours. And to those who gave of their time, their property and their talents.
